Recently, Microsoft bought Nokia for 7.2 billion dollars. So now you can have an indestructible Nokia phone that you can check your Xbox on (just saying). Specifically, Microsoft will spend 3.79 billion Euros on the portable devices (a.k.a the phones) and 1.69 billion Euros on the Nokia patent portfolio. Both the CEO of Microsoft, Steve Baller, and Nokia CEO believe that together that they will be able to take Nokia’s phone to the next level. My opinion (which is just an opinion) is that all Nokia has to do to become the leading phone brand is control the app market. Currently Apple is ahead due to stuff like Siri (the voice control system), iTunes, and the app store. The stock holders still have a chance though to stop the whole process, so I’ll follow that. Overall I’m interested to see how this turns out.
